I feel so blah

Hey Blog Fam,

Well, I am nearing the completion of my long projects on the road. It appears that God had other plans for me and the project team offered me another position which would require me to only travel maybe once a month or so. I can work from my home office or I can go into the executive office where my other office is and work from there. I am maintaining my responsibilities with some other small tasks but for the most part I am staying home. In the VP meeting I was described as Director Level Talent. Other comments were made that I could perform in a Director level position now and excel. Don't you just love the praise? I do too!

Now that I only have one week left in Cali and one week in St. Louis I have to get back on track with my workouts. While in Cali I went to LA Fitness which sucked because I am just not used to not having the equipment I need to get my workout in. When I came home on the weekends my weekends were filled with Sisterlock Installations so no time for the gym because those sessions would start at 7 AM on Saturdays and Sundays were travel days. Yeah I know crazy. So now that I have my life back I need to come up with a game plan to get back on track. My pers did the Master Cleanse and she is off and running now after 10 days. I couldn't get past 2 days on that cleanse. I was still trying to workout while doing that cleanse which almost sent me to the emergency room. So what is a girl to do? Well here is what my plan will be....

  1. Go to the Farmer's Market and stock up on the veggies, fruits, and fish. My fridge looks like a bachelor has taken residence in my home.
  2. I need to clean house! Since me and hubby are rarely at home there is plenty of dust and cobwebs that I need to get rid of. I also need to open up the windows and let some much needed fresh air in there.
  3. After cleaning house and stocking the house I plan to eat clean. For the first ten days consume 80% raw veggies and 20% with fish as my protein. I will add a couple protein shakes while I am working out as well. I hope this habit will continue on.
  4. After 10 days I will introduce brown rice, sweet potatoes, and whole grains.
  5. My workouts will be 5 days a week with my cardio during my lunch break at work. I will get in a good 30 minute run on the treadmill during my lunch break. After work I will hit the gym and do my strength training or a class.
  6. I will also clear my mind and do some studying of the bible and some much needed meditation. I need to have some quiet time with just me and my heavenly father.

I think this is a good start and I very excited about getting back to a normal way of life at home. I can say that I did the road warrior thing and it is not for me. Nope!

Moving along from Trainee to Certification

Hey Blog Fam!

God is so good! This year has been really busy for me. First off my job decided that I have enough time and talent to help out on two very high profile teams. One of the teams has now sent me to implement the process around the country so our first stop is Southern California. LA to be exact. I am gone from Sunday night to Thursday night. Now I am receiving emails from another project team asking for my help. Dang! They must think I have my cape blowing in the wind or something.

With the corporate job doing it's thing now my Sisterlock business has exploaded. I completed a full installation this month and now I have 3 full installations in March and one scheduled for April (her daughter will follow in June). One of my clients (Elaine) has been so good and has given my card out during her second job. So many people have complimented her hair and now I have two full installations through her. In a minute Elaine will have a free retightening coming her way. I love my clients they are so good to me. With my short hair promotions that I am offering I am completing full installations on Fridays or Saturdays so starting March 7th I am busy every weekend. The hubby doesn't mind too much because after this month I can submit my paperwork for certification. Hmmm Katrina Sisterlock Consultant sounds so very nice. Now if I can only find time to do my own hair. :)

With the added business comes the improved speed. My time spent retightening a client has improved to 2.5 hours to 4.5 hours tops. My longest time retightening is 4.5 hours and that is my client who has over 600 locks easily. Once I put on my Ipod it is all about FOCUS. Sometimes I don't get a chance to listen to my music because I am chatting with my clients. We have some of the best conversations and the bonding between sisters is welcomed. The one thing that I perfected is my gentle technique. This is something my mentor always stressed. A client should never feel discomfort or large amounts of tugging of the hair. Each of my new clients all said the same thing when I put in their test locks. Are you done already? I didn't even feel that. Or I thought you were still parting. I am proud of that. I want for each of my clients to have a stress free relaxed time in my chair.

Natural Hair Relaxers

Hey Blog Fam!

I am amazed at times when I receive phone calls from women asking various questions concerning hair care. I don't even charge a fee for my knowledge that I readily offer to callers, even when I get those occasional callers who are over-zealous. One call just took me back and it went a little like this.

Caller: Hello Do you carry ____ _____ Natural Hair Relaxer by _____ ____?
Me: Um I am sorry we do not carry ANY chemicals that may permanently alter your hair.

Well, in my 9 years of being natural I have seen and heard of many companies boasting their claims of natural products that offer hair relaxing capabilities. Judging from a couple of my previous clients who have tried those so called natural hair relaxers I will say there is no such thing as a natural product that permanently straightens your hair. Sorry ladies! I have also researched the internet and let me tell you, there are pages upon pages of so called natural products that straighten the hair. I even saw one that came close but it requires you keep this paste in your hair for 3 hours or more without heat. With the heat it is about 90 minutes. What!?!? That in my mind doesn't register as natural. I also read the ingredients and it was very vague. Something didn't sit right in my gut about the product. They also have rave reviews and not one person who was the least bit unsatisfied. My mother always told me if something appears to be too good to be true it probably is.

8 Month Growth Comparison

Hey Blog Fam!

I was just looking through some of my pics and I was reviewing a picture from April to a picture that I took this month. WOW the growth is amazing. Take a look.

Curls Curls and More Curls

Hey Blog Fam!
Well my hair has gotten to that length where I need a little extra hold to make my curls last longer. I would try that old just some oil and water routine and my curls would be limp by the end of the day. So I decided to give Jane Carter's Wrap and Roll solution a try. Here are the results .

Dang Nabbit! I've been tagged.

Hey blog fam!

For the past month I have been reading blogs and just laughing at the folks who have been tagged...Like I am happy I haven't been tagged yet hehehehe. Well, Lovenyalocs got me so I have to follow the rules (somewhat..I think everyone on blogspot has been tagged).

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you.....
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share 6 non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself that have not been shared already
4. Tag 6 random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
I've been tagged by: http://locsoflove.blogspot.com/

Non important facts about the kid...

1. I love to workout but I bet you didn't know that I am a huge boxing fan. So much so that I used to work out with a boxing coach when I lived in Ohio. Yeah I had high aspirations of fighting Laila Ali. We were in the same weight class. You never know you may see me on paid per view ;) Did yall know that Roy Jones was preparing to make a come back?

2. I was born and raised in Ohio.

3. I love all types of music...R&B, Neo Soul, Hip Hop, Some rap, a little country, a little rock n roll, soca, calypso, reggae, etc.

4. I have a pet poodle named Puffy, P Diddy, Puff, or Puff Daddy. He answers to them all.

5. I love to cook. I love watching Paula D, Emerald, G Garvin, Patti Labelle, etc. G. Garvin and Paula are my favorites. I can watch something they make and get right and that kitchen and whip it up. The hubby loves it....a little too much.

6. I love PZI Jeans. I have a hard time finding denim jeans to fit me. Small waist and the bubble (most men love it and have called it a booty, buttocks, Gluteus maximus, Apple Bottom, Onion, or whatever other endearing team men have gave it over the years). Well 4 years ago I found PZI jeans and I haven't had good luck with any other jeans after that. I have about 8 to 10 pairs of PZI jeans for every occasions plus as my weight shifts downwards I must be prepared.. www.pzijeans.com

Well, everyone that I could think of tagging have already become victim so....what can a girl do?? *shrugs shoulders*
