Hey Blog Fam!
It has been a while since I have blogged but I haven't forgotten about you. I have been busy raising a demanding 5 month old, studying for the PMP, started a new job, and still taking new clients. Well after I had CJ I noticed something different about my hairline. It was thinning heavily! BUUUTTT where did the hair go. Well I found out where the hair went. It embedded itself in the locs around my hairline. I am talking about nice size balls of hair that formed a nice little bump in my loc. Check out the pics I snapped. I had to take the locs down and get the excess hair out and start the loc again. The hair is growing back but I was disappointed to see all of that lush hair disappear like that. It was there one minute and the next it was gone.

3.5 years with Sisterlocks
Hey Blog Fam!
I am just now getting over a nasty cold that I got courtesy of our visit to our hometown. I have been so busy posting pics of new clients that I haven't really posted new pics of my hair growth. You can imagine how it is coming along with the prenatals that I have been taking. Well here are a couple of pics to show you have 3.5 years has treated me. By the way nevermind my huge red nose in the pics. I was still dealing with t
hat cold.

It's Hair
Hey Blog Fam!
As I surf the net I am always amazed with the amount of women who want to control their locs. Oh my hair has lump, bumps, and holes my consultant must have installed them wrong. Or my hair doesn't feel right my consultant must have done something wrong. Or my hair doesn't look like her hair my consultant must have done something wrong. NEWS FLASH ladies your hair is exactly that...YOUR HAIR. It is going to do what it wants regardless. We as consultants may give you a flawless installation and your hair will still do what it wants to do because it is what....YOUR HAIR. It will not conform to what you want it to do or what I as your consultant wants it to do. I have seen women bash consultants or trainees because their hair did something unexpected. Now I am not saying there aren't any consultants or trainees that need to have their certificate ripped to shreds and their tool taken away. There are some bad people who do bad things and unfortunately that gives us good people a bad name. Ladies, we need to just be realistic...we can't control our natural hair in all of its kinks, coils, and beautiful glory. Let your mane BE FREE!! Wake up from your relaxed hair comma and let your hair be FREE.

Two and Three Headed Dragons

I totally forgot about my two and three headed dragons. They will be gone soon.
I am also having the color itch. I want my hair all one color. I want a darker color now. Maybe a chestnut brown, but that is what I started out with and now my hair is looking really light brown and my roots are 4 inches of black. Not really feeling that too much. I want to bigen the entire thing but I am worried that it will wear off soon and I will have to apply the bigen again and again. What's a girl to do when she wants to color her hair and the hubby loves it the way it is? BOOT!

My soror's locks that I started for her

During my 10 year reunion I had an opportunity to see my SPEC (my sorority sister) that asked me to do her hair when I was living in Detroit a about 16
months ago. I started her locs for her using comb coils and the pics above are about 2 to 3 months into her journey. Yes her hair was shorter when I first started her locks. Once I got this job in Atlanta she was panicked because she didn't know how to maintain her hair. I taught her how to palm roll her own hair and voila. Check her out.

I love my hair and I wanted to showcase it.....BUT

So I finally got my photoshoot pics back from the Sisterlock training class. Hmmm what can I say about them? I am not feeling them too much. These are the only two that really focus on my hair and didn't have me looking greasy. I am not knocking the photographer but I should have let my hubby snap some shots of me.
For example....what does eating chicken have to do with my hair? Even if the chicken was finger licking.
I can dig this pic here.
But I had a lot of pics that I was like WHAT!?!?

Childhood Scars
Yeah that is right I have 3 new baby locs growing. One on right side and two on the left. I anticipate growing another one on that right side. I am just thrilled that my hair is finally growing back after years of chemical usage. I am talking about as far back as the kiddy perm, straightening combs, and jheri curl days. My mother knew how to braid but was getting to the point where she didn't want to braid me and my sisters hair every 3 or 4 weeks. Yes she was lazy! So she decided to do the kiddie perm, but with my kinky hair texture my hair laughed at her HA HA. So she got that hot comb out. Then she got tired of hearing me scream...YOU ARE BURNING ME!! She would reply shut up that is just the grease. Thanks Mom you were just scalding my scalp with petroleum and mineral oil. When she got tired of that she let our soul glow and put that Carefree Curl in my head. Yeah I had the greasy collar, pillow cases, and sheets. Thanks Mom! I know she was just doing what she knew how to do but damn she didn't even give me a chance to have long flowing hair.

Sitting under my new dryer while typing
My hubby bought me this new hair dryer for Christmas. It isn't that Purple People Heater that I wanted but it works really well. It cuts my drying time in half, which is a plus for me. It is especially great when I have to wash my hair multiple times during the week due to my streneuous workout schedule (I am hitting the gym twice a day. Once on my lunch and right after work) and my hair is a sweating mess. So this dryer is my new best friend. Gotta love the hubby for paying attention when I talk. All I did was say...You know it would be great if I could sit at the computer while my hair is drying. He listened and went to Sallys and bought this dryer for me.

SOFT SPIKE RESULTS
Hey Blog Fam!
Here are the results of my first attempt at using Soft Spikes. If I must say so myself I think I did a pretty good job. I like the soft spike curls better than the perm rod curls. These curls appear to give my hair a layers look with the back being a little shorter. I put a little flower on the side and rocked it like that to work. I am going on a week long business trip so the real test will be how long thes curls will last me with traveling. If they don't last I will just bring my soft spikes and roll it up in the room. That is the beauty of the spikes...light weight.
